Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey about the COVID-19 pandemic and other shared priorities.

Prime Minister Trudeau thanked Premier Furey for his leadership and ongoing collaboration. The two leaders spoke about the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, and the partnership between both governments to deliver safe, effective vaccines to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to working with the Premier to advance common interests on clean energy for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, including the Lower Churchill Projects and the Atlantic Loop. The two leaders discussed supports for workers in the oil and gas, and tourism sectors, noting that they have been particularly affected by the pandemic and are key parts of the economy in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Prime Minister and the Premier agreed on the importance of continuing to work together on these shared priorities.
