Newfoundland and Labrador have five new confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Three of the cases are in Central Heath and are all travel-rated.

They include a woman between the ages of 20 and 39, a man in his 40s and a male below the age of 19.

The other two cases are in the Eastern Health region. One is a man in his 40s and is travel-related.

The other is a man between the ages of 20 and 39, the source of which is under investigation.

There are 27 active cases in the province, one of which is in hospital.

Timeline for More Vaccines

Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. John Haggie says there is now a better timeline for the arrival of more vaccines into the province.

Haggie says they are expecting two trays will arrive early next week, and another four between
Christmas and New Years.

After that, Haggie explains that we will be getting four new trays on either a weekly or 10-day schedule.

Haggie does note, however, that distribution is still limited to the point of arrival, which is St. John’s. But once we get more ultra-low freezers, shipments will be brought directly to the other distribution locations.

He says Goose Bay may get a freezer within the next ten days, then there will be at least three more headed for Labrador West, one for Central Health and one for Western Health.
