There are three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador. The sources of today’s cases have not yet been identified and investigations are underway.

One case involves a man in his 60s in the Eastern Health region who is not a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The other two cases, a man and a woman in the Eastern Health region, are members of the same household. The pair are both residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.

One person is now in hospital with the virus, and one person has recovered.

There are 24 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

Rotational Worker Advisory

Public Health officials are warning rotational workers about an identified COVID outbreak at Teck’s steelmaking coal operations in the Elk Valley in British Columbia.

As a result, rotational workers at that site who have returned to the province in the last 14 days are being asked to self-isolate and distance themselves away from other household members.

They’re being asked to contact 811 for COVID testing and they must complete the full 14 day self-isolation period regardless of their test result.
