The number of active cases of COVID-19 has dropped to 30 despite the fact that the province has one new case.

The new confirmed case is travel-related and involves a man between the ages of 20 and 39 in the Eastern Health region. The man had returned to the province from work in Nunavut.

Passengers on Air Canada Flight 696 from Toronto to St. John’s arriving Tuesday, November 24, are asked to contact 811 to arrange for testing.

Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald is reiterating her warning against large gatherings this holiday season.

She cautions against any extensive functions or gatherings, except among your closest contacts. She’s still hearing about workplace Christmas parties being organized, something that causes her great concern.

Fitzgerald says we all need to find new and creative ways to celebrate the season without parties.
